A Bit of my Process Pt. 2
Stepping backwards from yesterday, this post shows my basic sketches of the cats and the pre-create coloring and details.
When I sit down I usually have an idea of what I want something to look like. I've had time to think about it while I write the story/sonnet. I've developed the ideas and possibly researched some details about what I am going to draw, usually the IRL version of my IIL (In Imaginary Life) illustrations.

I make a light sketch with pencil and then I go over with charcoal the details I want to keep. I re-sketch these on paper to fill with color.
Adding color before I make the papers, templates, and pieces is a must so I have a plan to follow. With so many characters and props and pieces it has to be organized before I start making the papers otherwise I might find myself without enough of a certain color or texture which takes me back to the beginning of the paper creation part.
I plan to record myself making some paper for one of my new illustrations soon. At the moment I am organizing all the digitally scanned pieces and putting together scenes for the next book, Zyborg's Comet. This book should be available by the end of May.
I'm not sure I will be posting tomorrow and I'm sure not on Wednesday (root canal...so much fun). I'll get back soon though.
